Plasticizer related concepts

Plasticizers are also generally called plasticizers. Plasticizers are industrially widely used additives for polymer materials. Adding this material to plastics processing can increase its flexibility and ease of processing, and can be used legally in industrial applications. Taiwanese manufacturers in China used a common plasticizer, DEHP (after successive detection of DINP, DNOP, DBP, DMP, DEP, etc.) instead of palm oil to produce thickeners similar to emulsifiers. However, people in the industry pointed out that DEHP, DINP and other plasticizers do not belong to food spices. Therefore, DEHP can not only be added to foods, and even not allowed to be used in food packaging.

"Clouding agent" is a legal food additive, often used in juices, jams, beverages and other foods. It is made from a mixture of gum arabic, emulsifiers, palm oil and various food additives.

Some of the plasticizers have molecular structures similar to those of hormones and are called "environmental hormones." They are toxic chemicals that are listed by Taiwan Environmental Protection Agency. If it is eaten for a long time, it may cause abnormalities in the reproductive system and may even cause teratogenicity and cancer.

Environmental hormones refer to external agents that interfere with the secretion of chemicals in the body. Trace amounts of these compounds remaining in the environment enter the body via the food chain, forming pseudo-hormones, transmitting pseudo-chemical signals, and affecting their own levels of hormones, which in turn interferes with the original mechanism of endocrinogenesis, which can cause endocrine disorders.
